Tara Lemley Jensen, LCMHC
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the states of Utah and Washington and an addiction specialist who received my master’s in counseling from Seattle University. I trained with physicians and their patients at the University of Washington Family Medicine program and with severely addicted patients in Seattle and Maui.I have also worked with children in crisis and their families, couples, and individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship challenges, conflict / anger, trauma, sexuality and gender issues and other concerns that negatively impact the health and wellbeing of my patients.
I believe we live our lives in patterns, some healthy and some not. Identifying and addressing what is not working in our lives is a starting point to building awareness, new skills and the resolution of obstacles to wellness. One of my favorite quotes is from Franklin D. Roosevelt: A calm sea never made a skilled sailor. Life can be a storm – it’s what we do with it that makes the difference. I am trained in EMDR, a type of therapy that I believe is the physiological missing link to other treatment modalities which I also practice to promote change, including: mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, narrative therapy, issue education, communication and boundary skill development, etc. I almost always give out homework (and you can choose to do it or not!). In my free time, my husband, dog and I head to the hills to hike, ski, camp and enjoy nature.
